My busy week

To start things off this week, over the weekend, I cleaned, snaped and canned 16 jars of greenbeans. We've cleaned out a space downstairs in the laundry room for my ever growing stash. Im now up to 31 jars of just greenbeans. I've made around 20 jars of pickles as well, but since we dont eat pickles, i've been trying to sell or give them away to people who do eat them. So if you are interrested in pickles, sweet and or dill, give me a call. I've got plenty to spare.

On Monday, I babysat my 2 nieces, thus learing how to be a mommy of 5 kids for the day. Thier ages ranging from 22 months up to 7 years.

They all did very well, tho and were very well behaved. They played store and animal doctor most of the day. It was cute to watch and listen to the comments.
Mealtime was the most challenging. How do you get 5 kids to sit and eat without going crazy? But we succeeded.

Next I attempted to make what is called, "Cucumber Salsa." It turned out quite good actually. Its a nice mix of salsa and relish. I'll probably have to eat most of it myself, since Trevor didn't seem to care for it. Oh well.
I also tried my hand at making homemade tortilla chips. They turned out great.

On Tuesday, we started school. So far things are going great. The boys are loving it. We are mixing up the "written schedule" to make it more fun. Each day we decide what we would like to start with and go from there. It makes it more exciting for the kids and gives us a break for the same ole thing all the time.

I worked very hard over the summer to redo the school side of the playroom, in order to give it a better school like setting. Here is my finished results. I really like it.

On Wednesday, after cleaning my house and doing school, I went to an Usborne book show that a friend was having. Of course Usborne gets new books in every 6 months, so there was a lot of new ones I hadn't seen, which of course made me want to buy a few. Oh well, I love their books. I'm sure to buy more in the future. The same friend also had "one last kids playdate" before school officially started , later that afternoon, after her show, so we stayed for that as well. I didn't get home till almost 5:30, thus making for a very busy day.

So today is Thursday, and the planned homeschool park day was canceled becuase of weather, much to my relief. I've had a very busy week and need a break.

On that note...Zion has piano lessons today, so I really need to get school going so we'll be done before his lesson.

Until next time...

Canning Green Beans

This year is my first attempt at canning. I have an over abundance of green beans, so I figured I'd better can them before we get too many. I cooked up a few of them for supper the other night, with a ham bone, and they were yummy.
The rest I've cooked and canned. So far so good.

As the tomatoes continue to ripen, I'm sure we'll be canning some of those too as well as making and canning salsa. Im going to be pickling some cucumbers in the next couple of days as well.

Just a "small" pile of what we have.

A family of Birds

Since I made this cute little bird for my sewing blog ...
...all 3 kids wanted me to make them their very own birds. SO after letting them pick the material out of my scrap pile, we now how a family of birds hanging out at our house.

Glorianna's is all blue,

Azariah's is Red with a blue belly. I had to add eyes to his, because "he just has to have eyes, mommy."

and Zion's is orange with a blue belly. His had to have eye's as well.

I still think my patriotic one without the eyes, turned out the best, but the kids are happy. That's all that matters, right?

Temperary Website

Until I get my personal sewing website up and running, I've been listing my projects on a site called Etsy. If you go to www.etsy.com and then under "sellers/username" , type in SISTREV , you will be directed to my shop. Have a look around and tell me what you think. I'm always open to new ideas.
