What to do with daddy's old shirts

Don't throw them away..(unless of course they are full of holes)...Recycle them!!
Glorianna is now the proud owner of a "Daddy's Shirt Jumper".

Can be worn without a shirt for the summer time....

or with a longsleeved shirt for the winter time...

This one is a bit big, but it still turned out really cute. I realize I should have taken the picture before she got it dirty, but such is the life of a toddler.

Updates

Well, we lost our water today...it went out around 10 this morn and was out until around 630. Im very glad it is back up. I was beginning to wonder how we were gonna do it with no running water. But it wasn't too bad. Thankfully we have a full pantry and fridge so we did just fine.

My brother, sister-in-law and their kids stayed here last night. They had no power, so they bunked here for the night. Tonight tho, they are over at my parents house. Their power came back on this afternoon, so since my parents house is a lot closer to my brother's house , they just moved over there for tonight. Some of Charlestown is finally getting power back but there is still alot out. We have my brother's deepfreeze as well the meat from my parents house, in our garage so that they wouldnt loose it all. I guess the Lord knew one of us had to have power.

There is still lots of home without power and some wont be so lucky as to have there's back anytime soon. Louisville is stilling say that some places will be powerless for up to 2 weeks.

We're still here!

In case you were wondering...we're still here. All day today we've felt the winds off of Hurrican Ike. Winds from 40-70 mph hammered the Louisville and surrounding areas. No rain...just wind. There were trees down everywhere as well as powerlines and fences. Some people even lost parts of their houses, like shingles, siding and gutters. We lost a lot of limbs from our trees and shingles from the side of the house but that was the worst of our damage. My parents, on the other hand, faired somewhatly worse. They lost power at around 1 pm today and just got word that it could take up to a week for them to get it back. Yuck. Most of Charlestown, Sellersburg, Jeffersonville, Clarksville and Louisville is without power and will be for anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, depending on the amount of damage to the powerlines. Thankfully the winds have finally died down and we can now start our clean up process.

More updates later.

Homeschool and Ants

In History, we've been learning all about when Columbus discovered America and about the different types of people living there at that time. The boys have been loving history. Especially when the get to make a project.

Here are a couple of the projects they got to make.

Teepees...They each picked their own Indian Name and designs for their teepees. I don't remember what Riah's Indian Name was but his teepee told stories about all the animals he has seen growing up.

Zion's Indian Name was "Animal Killer" and his teepee told stories of all the Animals he has killed.

In a later lesson, we learned about the Indian's that lived in "dried mud, stone-like" houses. So the boys made their own stone houses out of cardboard.

Riah's even had some furniture in it.

Zion is drawing a tall ladder from the bottom to the top so that the people can get in. The doors were on the tops of the houses, so they the people could hide from enemies by climbing up and pulling the ladders in after them.

Peeking inside the window of one of Zion's houses.

In other news...Some ants have decided to make there very large home, in our front yard. I've never seen an ant hill this big before. The kids were all quite fascinated by it. We watched the ants bring dirt from the inside of the hole to the outside. It was very cool and made for a great "science" lesson.

The ant hill lasted for about 4 days while i waited for Trevor to kill them. The boys beat him to it. ...On the days when its been hot enough to play in the water...but not hot enough for the pool, since the nights have been cooler and the water in the pool is very cold...the boys have been playing the sprinkler in the front yard. They weren't really paying attention to where they put the sprinkler and ended up putting it right on top of the ant hill. It is now a smashed ant hill and the ants are back to work trying to rebuild. I guess if we're going to get rid of them for good, we need to spray.
